SwiftKey 3 has a new layout which includes a longer spacebar – you can get it from here https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.touchtype.swiftkey

A resent chat in Twitter with the CEO of this company:
SwiftKey wins Best Startup Business in the Guardian Awards for Digital Innovation http://t.co/1tCv0ukH (via @SwiftKey)
@HeavyMetalJesus: .@SwiftKey but they still can't manage to fix the spacebar?!! Not good! #sad #fail
@joebraidwood: @HeavyMetalJesus @SwiftKey just you wait. Next week, space bar heaven.
OH YEAH, WE'LL BE WAITING. WE'RE GOOD AT THAT NOW...

Donor: perfect! Is that just a mockup, or perhaps a working "hack?"

I agree. This is no way to treat ones customers! Therefore i would like to point your attention to «Keyboard from Android 2.3+» ( https://market.android.com/details?id=com.moo.android.inputmethod.latin )! Its everything SwiftKey should have been. And the most important point: it lets you deside how big the spacebar should be by letting you hide the "." and the ",". Even the setting key can be hidden! It's my main keyboard now.
So SwiftKey, I want my money back! Now!

YES. THIS. IS. MY. PROBLEM. TO!!
But seriously. It IS a pain in the butt! SwiftKey has a lot to learn from the layout of the iPhone keyboard. That is, in my opinion, the perfect keyboard for a touch phone.
Diego: not much more to say. According to Braidwood there will be an update sometime this week that will address the space bar problem. So we'll just have to wait and see...
