Samsung galaxy s 3
I set SwiftKey as default keyboard; it changes back to the default Android keyboard upon a reboot of the phone.
After rebooting my tablet, default keyboard is set to the android keyboard. I have to set SwiftKey manually every time. I think this issue has something to do with when the internal sd is mounted after reboot, because SwiftKey save language packages in internal sd.
This has been ongoing from some time now. Any chance of it getting fixed?
Be able to select swift key as a default keyboard. So when you turn your phone on it is already selected
I set my default keyboard to SwiftKey but it won't stay when I reboot or shutdown, it revert to samsung keyboard
Keyboard resets to default android keyboard every time I reboot my Samsung Galaxy S3. Using latest AT&T update, I was using Beta version of SwiftKey and uninstalled prior to upgrading SwiftKey.
This is really annoying because every time I turn off the phone and turn it back on my SwiftKey is not appearing it wasn't a problem before but now is a constant.
Every time I turn on my phone after jellybeans update, the phone reverts back to stock keyboard instead of SwiftKey on galaxy S3
After updating to JB, SwiftKey lost the ability to remain the default keyboard upon system restart.
Give us a default option.
Whenever my phone gets turned off it automatically resets back to a different keyboard options.
Is there a way to make SwiftKey my default keyboard?

Every time I reboot my SGS3 running JB, the phone defaults to the stock keyboard meaning I have to manually select it in the settings.
Getting a little tedious now.
Every time my phone is powered off my keyboard setting are switched back to default instead of swiftkey, Which causes me to go back to my phone settings and switch it back to how it was before my phone powered off

We have just made some improvements to the app and updated to SwiftKey 5.
Please go ahead and update your app. Be sure to check the release notes for all the details.
This longstanding issue should now be solved.
If you experiencing regular crashes on every open, this is a known issue with the update. You can easily solve this with an uninstall and a fresh install. Thanks.

Instead of Uninstalling Greenify what I did was:
1. Open Greenify
2. Make Sure that SwiftKey wasn't one of the apps that were being automatically hibernated
2. Find Swiftkey usually on the first page
If not - Hit the "+" symbol in
the bottom right hand corner
Find Swiftkey (you might
have to click on show more
4. Tap on Swiftkey essentially highlighting the app
5. Hit the Android "Menu" key.
6. Select "Degreenify selected app"
7. Disable auto hibernation
Seems to have fixed the problem. I would check any other battery saving apps you may have to see if SwiftKey is being shut down because after all it is a process that stays running in the background if you want it to be the default keyboard
Downloaded v5....selected as default. ...played with it a bit....liked it very much. ..locked the device....and after some time when I waked up the phone. ..BAAM....keyboard changed to defult samsung stock keyboard. .....it happens every time I wake up my device....
Had the same problem.. It was Greenify causing the issue. Uninstaller the program and it is now resolved.

Using ES File Manager
1) Open ES File Manager
2) Click on the menu button of your device
3) Click on "Manager"
4) Click on "App Manager"
5) Long press on app you want to extract
6) Click on "backup"
7) Extracted .apk files will be placed on the "backups" directory of your sd card
Now install this new backup over your existing Swiftkey. *Should* stay there forever now. :)

Have any of you with problems tried totally uninstalling then re-installing? That often sorts out upgrade problems like the ones being described here.
Well now that I have upgraded to the new SwiftKey version it doesn't work at all.

I'm still experiencing this issue only now it's even worse!
Previously the keyboard used to reset to the stock keyboard each time I rebooted my phone. After upgrading to swiftkey 5 it now resets each time I close to keyboard!
In other words, it's now resetting once every few minutes.
Does this include the tablet version? That is what I have always had this problem on. The version on my smartphone has been fine.
Seems to work fine for me. I'm using a HTC butterfly. So far so good.
This just keeps getting worse. Now to add insult to injury, SwiftKey is FREE!
The title of this topic should be changed now to " Swiftkey 5 does not work at all now".

I found a solution to reverting to default keyboard. I recommend running Backup & Sync in the app first. Now for the solution: Go under Settings ( in Android, not Swiftkey) > Backup & reset > uncheck "Automatic restore". Now uninstall and reinstall the app. Be sure to check Automatic restore back after reinstall.
This is still happening on my Moto X on 4.4.3 and I have deleted and reinstalled. This bug is not solved.
Hey Ryan, version 5 crashes and does not work at all. Now I have no keyboard instead of it switching to the default one. And this is your fix after almost 2 years. You guys are clueless.
Shame that the V5 app completely crashes

Seems the newest update (Swiftkey 5) now has the OS randomly "forgetting" the default keyboard. I was previously running the beta and never saw this issue. Hopefully there is a fix soon.
This is Ron again. The way in which you have continued to ignore us is shameful. Nevertheless, last night my curiosity exceeded my resentment and (after uninstalling Swiftkey from my device, which I had originally purchased through the Play Store), I then downloaded the Amazon App Store application and paid $3.99 for Swiftkey from them and downloaded it. Sure enough, the problem is solved and Swiftkey remains the default keyboard after rebooting. It really irks me to have paid twice for your application, especially in light of the way in which you have treated us.
As I, and others, have stated in previous posts, if you were to credit/rebate those of us who have done, or want to do the same thing, you would be practicing the seemingly lost art known as - DOING THE RIGHT THING! Oh well, what else can I say, except you're welcome for being paid twice, so your application can work properly. I feel like a sucker, but I guess at the same time it does illustrate what a good product you have. You should be proud of your product and ashamed at the way you have ignored this subset of customers who have a very valid issue, and whom you continue to ignore.
Are you devs seriously expecting us to change our phone every month ?
This is becoming ridiculously sad.
Hello, this is "Ron" again, the one who posted below on January 1, and with whom others have since agreed, and even quoted. Why has no one (Hello Sarah? Anyone?) at SWIFTKEY ever had the common courtesy to even respond to what has been a fairly polite and constructive group of customers here, who are trying to help you help yourselves? Blatantly ignoring this post for the past 6 months, leaving us to gripe among ourselves, is not a recipe towards customer satisfaction, but quite the opposite. If we were being unreasonable, or techno-idiots I might forgive your wanting to ignore us, but that is obviously not who we are. So I hope you will finally sit up and take notice, and do something reasonable to address our valid complaint. In case you are unfamiliar with the concept of "good will", since it is quickly becoming an archaic term, it refers to the intangible yet very real long-term reward a company receives by treating its customers well, even if requires a little short term sacrifice and a little bit of extra effort. I think I can safely say that I speak for all of us here, that we would greatly appreciate your response; and preferably something more than just lip service.
