lag when typing
Lagging when keyboard is being closed or going back to the home screen.
I'm a very fast typer. But now I have to type very slowly in order for SwiftKey to recognize the key press. It almost always misses the first letters of all my words. Even though I can see that the correct key was pressed. (the key pops out when I press but doesn't appear in the text)
Swiftkey gets slower and slower after months of usage. It is purely a swiftkey issue. Modern hardware like quad-core, 2GB RAM (GT-I9305N, standard swiftkey) and Nexus 10 (tablet swiftkey) both are affected. So it seems kick-ass hardware can't save us from bad coding. Something needs to be done with these slowdowns. This has got so worse, I'm looking for replacement. Please fix this and make it usable again.
Phone lags for a few minutes after opening messages from notification bar, only from last updates. Im using a s3 also predictions not always loading whilst sending texts
It's a great app, but now it lags and takes a while to catch up to how fast I type.
My phone will lag when I'm typing and then it will slow down
Lags like crazy on the Google Drive app on my HTC One X, yet not on the Google Drive app for my Nexus 7.
When I press the home button on my galaxy s 3 the keyboard font stays on my current home screen for a couple of seconds. And when I am composing a text the letter buttons often freeze and freaks out.
A friend of mine actually thought her phone is broken (or became really slow), because it stuttered like crazy. She did not use SwiftKey and I made her switch. I only type in portrait mode because the performance is much better.
So i have to press really hard on the button for it to work, I want my rapid back, this is so laggy and less convenient :-\ feels like an ancient phone and I have the Galaxy nexus, it shouldn't be this way :'(
My SwiftKey keyboard keeps lagging... This issue has to be fixed!
I think there's a minor bug. Sometimes there's a small lag as I'm typing (fast typer) and it enters the value as if it's long pressed. So instead of "yes", it'll put down "y3s". Lol
I just purchased SwiftKey, comiing from the beta. With the same settings, I found it with a little bit of lag when typing. I'm not quick on typing anyway but I found that the keyboard miss some typing, if I press say 5 letters, I get 3 or 4 letters many times (not only on the predictions but even on the first field). Tried disable haptick feedback and typing style with no effects. I didn't find that lag on the beta version. My phone is SGS2 2.3.3 stock. Thanks.
We recently published an update of SwiftKey 22.214.171.124. Reduced lag and better overall performance was one of the many things that was addressed in this release.
In the event that you are experiencing significant lag in that release, please create a new post containing relevant details in our public forum at support.swiftkey.net to bring it to our attention.
Thanks very much.
I definitely notice more lag in the last two versions of SK before that weren't there before. I would love if it could be rectified but doing some reading its been doing this for a while on certain phones. I have a GS3 non rooted on VZW running 4.3 and SK ver126.96.36.1994

Using Version 4.5 with emoji and optional 5th number row here, Updated 3/17/2014, and three previous beta versions. I also have the paid version installed. HTC One, Sense 5.5, Android 4.4.2.
This latest beta version and the previous version has a serious lag between tapping the keys and displaying the characters. It may have occurred since the latest Android and Sense firmware updates. In any case, the problem is serious enough that I may have to use a different keyboard, after enjoying Swiftkey for over three years now on my HTC One and my HTC Evo before this. Please fix this ASAP. It is NOT fixed in the current version.

I had this issue and I was able to resolve it by disabling the 3-tap shortcut on my nexus 10 in the accessibility settings (the setting that allows the user to zoom into a part of the screen). No idea why it was only an issue for swift key.

Still getting lag, when initializing they keyboard, and up to a few minutes after.
All : this is Scott. I've been commenting on the lag issue with swift key for over a year. I just noticed that the SK marketing group changed all of my earlier comments to "Anonymous " . Disappointing.
The swift key lag continues into the new version. The problem has not been corrected. I just bought a Note 8 and have the same problems with the tablet version.
I don't have any special apps running.... I don't play games on my phone. I am a normal user. Yet, the lag issues continue. This is beyond maddening.
I've clearly explained to the swift key team that the problem seems to exist within the sync function in an email application - exchange server or Gmail. The lag seems to be MUCH worse when typing in email applications versus texting. So I can only deduce that that the swift key app does not play well with the smartphone when the phone communicates with an external server.
PS - the autocorrect function is getting worse on each subsequent release..... Just another annoyance.
I am hoping that the problems get fixed. SK is still a great app...... But they will go to the blackberry pile if a better typing application comes out.
The lag issues are not acceptable
Have been suffering from lag and I was wondering is it my phone? had a hunch it's SK and lo and behold. Google led me here. This is disappointing.
Been promoting SK since I got my first Android note 2 in 2012. I'll be removing it in the meantime.

I have the update and it still lags on a Note 3 which has the best Android specs yet i even restated the device closed all apps and still the texting lags and the swipe follow line disappears not sure why?
The swiftkey's keyboard won't appear when I want to message! Ughhhh!
There's an initial lag on my S4 as soon as the keyboard appears

Also ran a number of updates on my phone over the last day or so and suddenly the Swiftkey keyboard is basically unusable. I used it on my S2 without any issues and the S4 for the last 7 months without any issues but suddenly this happened. What is going on? I will have to stop using it as well.
I Waited to long for lag fix..
I switched back to Go Keyboard... No more lags on my device.!
Can I ask for refound?

I'm also having Lag issues, on both of my devices (Nexus 7, Galaxy S4). I look forward to a fix for this. I've had to stop using SwiftKey for now.
Nexus 7 with 4.4 all working okay until a few days ago. Now just lags and has now slowed my device down to an unusable state. Uninstalled and have tested with stock and Go Keyboard which resolve the issue. A reinstall of SwiftKey results in the problem again.
Recently upgraded to the 4.4 version and the lag has become ridiculous. I'm running a LG-E980 with Android 4.1.2
The keyboard lags when typing and after closing or backing out of a program the keyboard stays on the screen for 3-5sec. When I first bought the app it was great but now it's so annoying it's almost unusable
This bug dissapeared some versions ago, but now it's ridiculously bad again. When i type, random letters lag or hang, the keyboard is unresponsive for few seconds and than all key strokes are shown when the lag lock releases the keyboard... The space key doesn't always register when hit... And the backspace is some times acting wiers, it just bugs the hell out of a line, if i hit it once it takes 5 letters away
I'm lagging pretty hard on my S4.
It misses the first 2 letters of every box I start to type in.
In for example WhatsApp that is VERY annoying.
Furthermore since the update I feel like it that the spacebar has become less sensitive.
Since my typing hasn't changed, but I'm missing spaces continuously...
Thanks in advance!
It is anything but fixed. I was just in Gmail now and I was at least 10 letters ahead of the keyboard. Switched to another app and started typing there, no problem. Back to Gmail and it lags.

I have a Nexus 7 2012 in 4.4 and it's still too long to open, especially with hangout.
I tried the stock keyboard again and it's much faster.
But I really like SwiftKey predictions and flow, so I still use it and make some meditation to not throw my tablet when I want to write something.
Once loaded SwiftKey run pretty well.
Keep in mind that the SSD of the Nexus 7 is pretty poor (~10-20 mo/s) and it can explain the loading time.
Maybe the prediction engine can be loaded once the keyboard showed.
Thank you for your software :-)
I am also still having the same problem. Only since the newest update, the keyboard takes an extra moment to come up, but then needs 5 or 6 seconds or so until I can even begin to type a message or press the mic key for speech-to-text. I rue the day I updated. Any way to revert to the old version? It was working perfectly fine. Please help, I'm about ready to uninstall and give up.

I stopped cloud sync and will see if that speeds it up. Next step will be to disable the cloud account but loose the customization. Hope it is resolved soon.
