Keyboard settings "select input method" constantly reappears in
Comes back if cleared.
Galaxy nexus. Android 4.0.1
keeps constantly prompting to select input method even though I've already done that. Keeps prompting in the notifications even though I've already selected SwiftKey as my default keyboard and selected all my preferences etc. I'm using SwiftKey version 4.01 on a galaxy s2 android 4.1
Notification on phone header several times a day
Whenever I reboot my phone and bring up the keyboard it shows a keyboard icon in notification bar asking me to select my input method. When I click on it SwiftKey is already selected, I have to go into configure input methods to make it stop. Reboot phone and it comes right back. Very annoying.
Keyboard icon in top left corner daily. Asks to select input method and must select SwiftKey again.
SwiftKey keeps popping up several times a day in my notifications bar prompting me to "Select Input Method " on my T mobile Samsung Galaxy S3. This is despite the fact that I select SwiftKey each time. This is extremely irritating! Is there a fix out there?
Constantly being questioned to select default keyboard when SwiftKey is the primary keyboard already
Swiftkey keeps on coming up in the notification bar saying choose input method and even when you choose it still comes up after a while? (Samsung Galaxy S3)
The swift key notification icon is staying on the notification bar. I have a Infuse.
We don’t have any control over this notification, unfortunately. This is a feature of Android 4.0 and above – it’s not related to SwiftKey. A web search of “select input method ics” will show this to be the scenario.
If there are multiple keyboards enabled on the device within one’s Settings, this notification will show whenever a keyboard is on screen. If you were to disable SwiftKey completely within your Language & input settings and enable other keyboards along with the stock keyboard, this notification remains.
"Just disable the stock keyboard in applications...
EDIT.. Once you disable "Android Keyboard" in applications, you have to reboot.
Google Voice Typing is still an option though.. so you may have to disable that too if the notification appears.
Second edit... after unchecking Google Voice Typing... the language selector is no longer there."
pls help to restore my default keyboard...
Disable all the others including the stock keyboard and the voice input... Then it will be gone..
Thanks swiftkey for this awesome product.. Just add a few more themes :-)
Do you know if there is a way to disable the recently-added Google keyboard? I am not referring to the Android keyboard; it's called Google keyboard on my Galaxy Nexus running Android 4.2.2. Thanks!

It's an Android notification.

This isn't a Swiftkey's notification, but Android's.
I came here as I was having the same thing happen to me. It it now quite clear...
THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH SWIFTKEY, IT IS A NEW FEATURE IN ANDROID!
So please, stop bugging the poor Swiftkey people who have done nothing but give us a great product, go and bug Google instead :)
Yeah, same problem here. It's so annoying. The same notification appears when I go back to using the Samsung Keyboard with SwiftKey enabled, so I gotta disable it first.
This is also a problem with Swipe so it is an android problem. I'm a swipe user and it's driving me nuts. Only started quite recently.

Same situation here, and it's annoying! Please find a way to solve it! I tracked down this thread and it was happening since 2011?

Oh my gosh, I am so sick of always having to remove the notification that says "select input method". Something has to be done...I don't have good eyesight and always thing I have a message of something important...
I can't disable the only other keyboard, being the android default keyboard... Wtf

If you ignore the icon it disappears after you finish typing. Just because its there doesn't mean you need to reply to it

I can confirm that if all other keyboards, including that Samsung keyboard are frozen or removed, then Swiftkey will work without the dialogue.

@ct, it appears in your sig that you are on ICS. This is mostly a 4.1.1 problem with Swift key specifically. When I used a custom ROM with 4.1.2 or higher it didn't happen, nor with version 3 of Swift key. I am going to try and uninstall or disable all other keyboards and see if it still happens.

I have that same annoying problem with my Galaxy S3 (Jellybean 4.1.2). It's really frustrating. There's nothing you can do as android developers?
This is a swiftkey issue, after uninstalling select input method in notification bar disappears.
The way I see it is, if you're writing a software program for Android you can't blame Android for the problem. Just say you have a problem and are working on it (even if you're not). Peace
It's like saying you've made an aftermarket spoiler for a Ford Mustang, but it doesn't quite fit because of the way Ford makes its cars.
I have a Droid DNA, and this problem did not occur for the first 4 months. It only started after the last Swiftkey update.
I get this is a feature of Android 4.0, not SwiftKey, but I won't turn back my phone. I think it's reasonable to expect my apps to stay up to speed. I've used this for years, but unfortunately....time to uninstall since I've seen not even a message from the company about expected timeline of changes from either side. That's just poor customer service.
