T9 Keyboard option for portrait orientation?
If the prediction part of SwiftKey would cater for it I would love to have the option of choosing to have a T9 layout keyboard displayed when in portrait mode.

T9 style keybord for portrait orientation --- it will be the most epic thing ever in android keyboard history if swiftkey adds T9 -- 12 keys keyboard layout.. i hate qwerty, so does millions of other users..believe me, there's a great opportunity to capture this untapped segment.. there's not a single good t9 style keyboard.. only htc is catering this segment with some decent layout but falls way behind when it comes to prediction words.. please consider this option... for god sake.... most of people would love to choose this layout for portrait orientation.

Even though the qwerty keyboard is good enough some prefer the the compact qwerty keyboard. The one with two letters on each key. Not only does it make the style look differently but it gives you a greater confidence that you are pressing the right keys. I personally use them both but when I am in a hurry I tend to use the compact qwerty keyboard. Too bad SwiftKey does not offer that option. If it were offered I would definitely recommend and buy this app, it's almost perfect.

Ok. This was so surprising for me - you can't find a decent T9 keybpard all over the internet. Before I ran into SwiftKey I was searching for something my good old Sony Ericsson K800i had. A croatian T9 (now something enourmosly important) WITH THE POSSIBILITY TO INPUT YOUR OWN WORD (in the dictionary and also into wherever you were typing) in case t9 can't recognize what you want. I think It wouldn't hurt if you put this T9 as a option. But don't do it if you don't put the option which i was explaning here.. It is so silly that the old K800i had this option and not one keyboard for a smartphone has it today and T9 without this is totally worthless.

Add t9 support to SwiftKey Tablet. This would be great in both portrait & landscape. Landscape should use a compact t9 that can be docked to either the right or left side of the screen, giving all that viewable area back to the user.

Add a dialpad that can be used for typing which includes t9 and guessing. It must be large with numbers 1-9 taking up most of the screen. My phone has a 4inch display and I struggle with full keyboards. My last phone was candy bar form and I could text so much faster on it

A decent keypad with letters please as I prefer this to type. The optimus 2x keypad is well sized but has no t9 in Google search and the t9 isn't as good at guessing as SwiftKey. Thanks kindly.

Hello.
I'll find Swift-Key Keyboard top. One thing I would like but better.
Because I like the "normal" keyboard writing (2 is ABC, 3 DEF, ...), I
would hope that it is time for an update. Is this possible? Other
keyboards can also, why not Swift-Key? I would like to buy the Pro
version, but that they would have to have a normal telephone keypad.

Please make a 4x3 size keyboard if it is possible to implement with the current keystroke recognition, i assume it would be abit hard as you instead of one letter per key, you have 3 and secondary function
as far as a i can see
+ Easier to type faster, and while on the move as you can "get a feeling" on where the letters are without having to think to much
+ You can easily type with one hand, and with the thumb
+ and easier for ppl with some size on their fingers
-i would assume coding and interp part would be written somewhat diffrently
- might be somewhat unusfull for more platforms than mobiles

In the android settings menu it is possible to chose phone layout of the keyboard, the type that is on classic cell phones with T9 typing. There are fewer buttons and it is easier to use. It is available in the standard android keyboard options and should be in swift keyboard as well.

I already love the look and feel of Swiftkey but I really think the text prediction engine would be even greater if you could integrate a T9 text / keyboard layout for for 1 handed texters like myself.
We currently have no plans to create a T9-style keyboard. However, we may look into the possibility of adding other layouts in the future.

This is one of the reasons I stick to Samsung phones the built in Samsung keyboard combines swipe with T9, typing on the S3 is wonderful

Just trying swiftkey and I am amazed at just how good it is from very first use.....I'm really disappointed though that there is no T9 option as I like smaller screens and one handed use. I hope you will offer this as an option in the future as T9 is not going away . It could fit perfectly where your text prediction is already so highly developed.

Still waiting por T9... my device is small so I can have a full keyboard on portrait mode. How hard is it to create a T9 layout?? The SwiftKey perdition is awesome but I can't take full advantage because the keys are so small and I have to slowly, careful pick them.
When SwiftKey has T9 layout I'll buy it for sure!

Five months under review? That looks like you are not even working on the idea.
We all users come from T9. Don't you remember how you used to type lots and lots with your T9 hardware keyboard layout? It easy and fast! It was the best on its time and it can be the best with your implementations SwiftKey development team.
You really can make it a 10 million dollars implementation worth of money for you guys. Neglecting this is nonsense.Qwerty + autocorrect + predictions is good but T9 + personalization is way better, accurate, easier and faster.
I hope you do grant us this magnificent tool.

Any word on a t9 portrait style keyboard? I passionately hate qwerty keyboards. I really dispise having to use more than 9 blocks to type. Even after a couple months I still type no where as fast as with t9. You guys are really missing the ball here.

This is why I won't bother getting Swiftkey. I like phones that are small enough to fit in a pocket, and this means that QWERTY doesn't fit in portrait mode (and I have small hands). I can touch type T9 with a thumb, but would love a better predictive text. Using Swiftkey on my phone isn't possible without getting part of my thumb surgically removed. It seems the trend for oversized phones is passing, so you might want to review this....

I doubt that "milions of other users" hate qwerty and really want a T9 feature. In my opinion the T9 feature always was a crutch to be able to write normal text on the limited set of 9 keys of a regular phone keyboard. It takes a bit more than 2 key presses on average to produce a certain character. A qwerty in my view is faster and easier to learn.
However, for people like you, or with small screens where bigger soft buttons may make a difference, why not implement an additional T9 feature. :-)
