Option to disable auto-space after punctuation and/or prediction
Would really like the option do disable/enable auto-space after punctuation (.,!), particularly period. Would make entering e.g. adresses and version number strings (which I do a lot) much less of a hassle.
And related, an option to do the same for prediction: Some languages, e.g. Swedish, uses composite words (combining word stems/lexemes into one word) extensively.
Auto-spacing is now disabled if:
you start to enter a number
you write www. (indicating that you are entering a URL)
you use the @symbol (indicating that you are writing an email address)

What about URL which doesn't start with www? For example,
mail. SwiftKey. net
forum. SwiftKey. net
smtp. SwiftKey. net
pop. SwiftKey. net
imap. SwiftKey. netPlease note that users do not necessary type URL in URL box. Sometimes we want to send the URL in our message.
Btw, we know when to press space bar on our own and we do not need SwiftKey to insert it for us.

I wanted to type,
"Please look for .exe files"and it got changed to,
"Please look for. Exe files".also the following,
"I am going to K. L. C. C. "
"Rename the file picture. jpg to picture. jpeg"See what the auto space and auto punctuation rearrangement did to what I've typed? I basically need to switch to other keyboard to write that. There should be more samples but those two should be eye opener. Also note that every line of text I typed will always end with an extra space. This is annoying.

Decent keyboard but this "feature" is a pain in the behind. Give us an option to disable it!

autospace after period is unacceptible.

This 'feature' is a real pain. It causes no end of trouble when entering email addresses that contain '.' e. g. j. smith@xyz.com. And look what it did when I typed 'e. g.'!! Also adding spaces automatically after selecting suggested words is irritating. It gives the whole experience an inconsistent feel. We need more control over these options, then this app will be perfect and I will recommend it to everyone. Currently I can' t recommend it to anyone.

Someone from SwiftKey finally replied - but it's a very poor effort and complete cop out instead of providing a way to disable it all together.
Sine when do you enter a URL with www. anymore??? Every URL I've ever typed for about the past 5 years has never had www. in front of it, so I'm not about to start doing it within SwiftKey just so I don't get auto-spaces. What about sub-domains - forums.website.com? It fails here as well.
What about email address that have . before the @ symbol? My entire company, as do about half the others we deal with on a day-to-day basis use the email format firstname.surname@company.com. So once again, it is completely useless and still inputs spaces.
This is so frustrating. Stop trying to tip-toe around the issue by providing pathetic work arounds and give us the option to disable auto-space after full-stops, exclamation marks, questions marks, and so on.
This is pathetic SwiftKey! It really is.
For anyone interested, here is yet another decent, and quite new keyboard you might interested in trying out: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.zl.inputmethod.latin

18 months to add a simple f-in option to allow us to let go of mama's hand is too much.
I have been using Swype for the last couple of months and it is so much better on every respect plus it's free. Forget these people, they just take your money and do what they like, not what you like.
The way I see it, for me anyway, I'd come to the eventual conclusion that even if this gets fixed,.I now have a pretty good idea how future problems will be (or not be) solved, and for something as fundamental as an input app that's a deal breaker. For that reason alone I was determined to find any other decent alternative but I was lucky to find Swype which would have tempted me even if swift key had decent support.
Good luck to those that stick with it and those that don't, prefect keyboard, Swype, Ai, or other suggested keyboards are worth a try, but make sure your happy with the current version before you part with any money.

I don't want automatic spaces after anything I type. 3,759 votes being ignored for the simplest fix imaginable says a lot about a company not giving a crap about its customers.

He's right. AIK is a lot smaller, but very capable people, and they are working HARD to make it an excellent program.

As Roy suggested earlier, I have switched to using A.I. Keyboard. £2.59 that's gone into their pockets instead of SwiftKey's. Well done guys, your lack of communication has lost you a customer, respect and money. Keep it up, I don't care any more.

It would seem that Sarah is actively visiting and responding to other comments for things like themes. I suppose that tells us where their priorities are. Form over function. Who cares if it works as long as it looks right? Once you sold a copy it doesn't matter anymore.

If you include a period in a password this "feature" is a real pita. In this day and age we are also constantly typing email addresses and urls which of course don't work with spaces in them. I'm fed up.

I didnt kno that everyone was having this same issue. I love sk.. but this is my only problem with it. makes tweeting more of a task than it should be. I bought sk awhile back not even thinking that there wasn't a way to disable the auto space. now I'm ready to count my losses and go back to another keyboard.

They said in other post that "auto-space" is disabled in "some" languages ...
I think that should be a function available to everyone, everywhere! -

It's taken me four minutes to send a text with just two composite-word URLs in it, absolutely pathetic. I thought I was doing something wrong, apparently not.

There are a few similar threads that have been removed, which is a lot of votes And a number of comments that didn't have a vote. Add those in. I guess since they got our money, we all just bought a fake watch.

SwiftKey are obviously still too busy working on themes rather then trying to improve the functionality. Theme's are obviously more important.
Considering SwiftKey don't seem to give two sh**s, here are a couple of alternatives I suggest people try BEFORE purchasing this.
- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.aitype.android.p - AI Type Keyboard Plus
I've been using this one for a while now and it works brilliantly. No auto-space after punctuation marks either.

If each vote on this topics represented 1 person, and each person tried before buying and posted here, you lost 3,680 potential customers who are looking for a nice keyboard. Multiply that by $4.00 per pro version purchase and you lost over $14,000 in sales due to a simple feature request being ignored. Reverse the scenario and you have 3,680 people who purchased this in good faith after the trial because they believed you pay attention to your forums and would respond to a top rated issue. At $4.00 a pop, you screwed us out of over $14,000 dollars. I know that the votes don't necessarily equal 1 vote per person, and that not all of fit the same scenario. But I can accurately say that a mix of both of the above scenarios have occurred, neither of which are beneficial to you or the customer. If you were smart, you would see that people in the comments are looking for alternative products, and that alternative products exist in the comments.
