Add an option to remove the text box that comes up in landscape mode, So we can see what we are typing into
Currently if you put the keyboard into landscape, you get a large white text box above the keyboard. This means you can't see the fields you are typing into, select new fields, or see any formatting without switching back to portrait mode.
Go Keyboard lets you do it, it's a common feature for iOS devices, I already have key height at small, makes no difference to the text box.
When in landscape mode and the keyboard is set to the largest setting, cannot see the text on the display above the keyboard.
This is in my opinion the most annoying thing in SwiftKey. It's impossible to chat with someone in landscape mode since the input form takes half the page and the other half is hidden by the keyboard. I either have to choose between seeing what the other person writing (portrait mode) or type comfortably (landscape mode). I understand that fullscreen is interesting once in a while when we are typing a huge text (maybe for an email or something), but for a LOT of situation (filling forms or chatting), having the keyboard hide the WHOLE page is not at all appropriate. It is very easy to implement a small button on the keyboard that would switch between full screen and normal and it would be a huge PLUS. i bought the app for my galaxy S3 and I ended up not using it at all because I'm feeling as if i am wasting my 4.8 inch screen since it doesnt even let me use it. all the estate I have. (and most new phones come with huge screen like this).
Basically, just see the document/note/form you're typing in, like on iOS. I know this is how it's supposed to be on Android, but Go Keyboard has an option for this nonetheless.
In some cases, like when editing doc files (btw, it seems that I can't write doc with a period in front, like you do for file extensions!), this would be especially useful because you can see the document as someone else would see it on a computer, on paper etc.
when writing on landscape mode the keyboard fill the while screen and i can't see whats behind it (like when talking through gtalk) so when i receive a new message i have to put it in portrait mode so I can read the message. Would be nice to have the option to have a smaller keyboard or hide the suggestions to see incoming messages.
Thanks for letting us know that you’d prefer to see more of the app, even if this makes the text box smaller.

I'll add my vote for this. I am unable to use Swiftkey to log in to forums with this "feature". After selecting the login field and entering my user name when I press "go" (or the check on the keyboard) the entire form is submitted before I have a chance to enter a password. I had to switch back to the stock keyboard. At least, thanks to the above comment, I now know that this is dependent on being in landscape mode.

Commenting as another happy customer EXCEPT for this issue.
Very silly this hasn't been addressed yet.
Please add this feature, a lot of people is asking for it. Not much to keep people happy and loyal
There really is no reason not to add a toggle for this in the settings... Such a simple feature would make a lot of people happy.
It's a bit pathetic that a year on, nothing has been done about this :(

This is taking way too long. Due to this problem I can't chat in landscape with any program would it be Whatsapp, Facebook Messenger, Google Messenger and so. I even have a special app installed that the messenger apps don't go in landscape mode because of this stupid box thing.
Agreed. Need option to disable fullscreen in landscape. Thanks.
Seriously? This is still under review? With 1080p big screen becoming a norm, this full screen text box crap is totally unbearable. It was necessary when screen was tiny with HVGA resolutions, but full screen text box on a HD screen is a total waste of screen real estate.
we need this
Why do you respond at all when you aren't willing to change this with your updates?
If you cannot fix this bug I have to switch to go keyboard!

I cannot agree more. I think i am switching to floating keyboard.
How has this not been implemented yet? Crazy!

This is the only annoying thing..
please fix this!
huh at last i find an answer... so the fact that on landscape mode the keyboard takes ALL the screen space is actually how its supposed to work!!!
i was looking for a solution for this... but it seems to be how its supposed to work :/ to bad because everything else on this rocks!
Please! Fix that of the landscape about! It is so much annoying that box! And separate the keyboard in the middle as gokeyboard does on landscape mode!

Hi Sarah Reynolds, are you still having this under review?
In my opinion, this should not be a feature request, because it's a bug. In portrait mode the text input us just as big as the underlying app it telling it to be. In Landscape it fills the screen and hides the underlying app.
Your remark (Thanks for letting us know that ......) makes me think you don't really get the point of this request/bug (sorry for this rudeness when I'm wrong here).
I've switched back to the stock Jelly Bean keyboard solely because of this.
