  1. Option to disable auto-space after punctuation and/or prediction

Add an option to disable automatic space after completing a word in flow. Instead add space after I have either chosen a suggestion is state typing a new word This way I could choose the proper suggestion much faster or need be correct my previous typing.

      Hi everyone,

This issue is something we’ve thought about on many occasions, as it would definitely simplify some of the typing use cases.

One of the primary problems is that people often build words by selecting the root or prefix and then adding a suffix. For instance, if I want the word “predicting” I might select “predict”, then add the “ing”. In this case, if you add space before a prediction, there’s no way of knowing if the user intended to start the next word or add to the selected word.

In the absence of a space after a prediction, a user whose cursor was next to the end of a word would not know if the predictions/corrections that they saw related to the word they are currently “in”, or to the next word.

There may be a way to solve this problem via probabilistic modelling, but it’s definitely non-trivial.…

    • AutoText - Word Substitution / Macros (brb = 'be right back')

Create your own typing shortcuts/macros. It's a popular feature that BlackBerry smartphones have always had that allows you to substitute a combination of letters (or words) for something else (typically longer). For example, why always type out your full email address when you can just type something like 'mygmail' and when you press the space button it'll replace 'mygmail' with 'mygmailname@gmail.com'. I use these all the time for things like my phone numbers, email addresses, addresses, and even just shorthand (i.e. ttyl + space button = talk to you later). It allows you to type faster with less…

      • Add an option to remove the text box that comes up in landscape mode, So we can see what we are typing into

Currently if you put the keyboard into landscape, you get a large white text box above the keyboard. This means you can't see the fields you are typing into, select new fields, or see any formatting without switching back to portrait mode.
Go Keyboard lets you do it, it's a common feature for iOS devices, I already have key height at small, makes no difference to the text box.

          Hi everyone,

Thanks for your feedback on this issue. Right now the “full screen” text box appears when you switch to landscape on a phone. “Phone” here means that SwiftKey detects that your device identifies itself as being of “normal” size.

The problem here is that “normal” size ranges from HTC Wildfire up to Galaxy Note. On larger-screened phones, there is plenty of room to see the text box and the surrounding app. On smaller-screened phones, if the full screen text box does not appear, the environment of the app can take up so much space that it is very difficult to see the box that you want to actually type into.

“Not being able to see the rest of the app” is annoying for users with large phones, but “not being able to see what they are typing” would be even more annoying for users with small phones., which…

Don't autocorrect a word when the user backs up and deletes part of it.

Whenever SwiftKey autocorrects a word that is almost correct (e.g. "bikes" instead of "bike"), don't autocorrect the word back to "bikes" if the user deletes the 's'.

As of right now, #1 post on Reddit!: http://redd.it/122sp3

SwiftKey Cloud (4.2) has now been released to market! This version of SwiftKey includes improved backspace behavior so that suggested words now prioritize exact text entered after backspace is used to fix a mis-correction or completion.

If you have previously purchased SwiftKey, you should be able to update for free (use the same account and app store).

See our blog post for more info: http://www.swiftkey.net/en/blog/swiftkey-cloud-launched/

              Thanks for your support!

You can remove accidentally-saved passwords (or any other word that you don’t want in your model) by longpressing on the prediction and choosing “Remove”.

Because SwiftKey takes into account the context in which you use a word, the best way to add words is to do so at the time when you want to type them.

If your spacebar is set to “complete current word” or “insert a prediction” then the left-hand prediction will show the exact lettters that you have typed. Tap it to insert the word.

If your spacebar is set to “always insert a space” then just tap the space and the word you typed is inserted.

SwiftKey will learn every word that you type, but if your word is competing with another popular word (similar tap pattern, similar flow pattern or similar context) then it may take a few goes before your word is predicted.

                • What if you could long-press on a prediction to get different forms of the word? / word variations / word variants

What if long-pressing on a prediction gave you a menu with different forms of the word. Many times I see SwiftKey predict the right word, but in the wrong form (Ex: predict, predicted, prediction, predicts), and I have to type it out.

                        • Add the option to stop swiftkey from adding every word to the dictionary automatically (incognito)

I really think that each one of those keyboards, swift x, smart keyboard pro and swype has a big problem, one you can't delete words from the dictionary and one you can't stop it from learning wrong words as you type. I think the request feature is pretty simple to implement and i see no reason not to do it. which ever one of these keyboards fixes this problem they would be the winner and i would that keyboard. My favorite option out of all of these would be if Swift X was to give me the option to stop…

Hi everyone, thanks so much for taking the time to write it about this. I have just re-opened this discussion with the product team. While I know this sounds like a trivial addition, adding in customizability and selection ability requires some work. We have so far put working on other bug fixes, features for the beta, and language / accuracy improvements as a higher priority of development resources. But as there seems to be a lot of interest in this particular customization, I’ll see what we can do about getting some improvements into the roadmap. Thanks for your patience.

While using predictions for inputting usernames and email ids, SwiftKey automatically includes a 'space' after selecting the prediction, hence resulting in a wrong username. Please fix this.

                                  • Spaces between words should only appear when you start typing the next one

When you use flow or touch a prediction it inserts the word and a space. Any other keyboard around, including stock Android and Swype do it differently: put spaces when you start typing the next word.
This simple change would solve a lot a problems. Every time it autocompletes login username, you have to backspace to remove the extra space. Every time you end a phrase with some punctuation you have to backspace, so the phrase won't t have one extra character at the end.

And well, it seems just obvious... You only need a space when you write something…

                                    • Typing a web address is a pain

Typing an URL is quite a pain: Www. SwiftKey. Com
It shouldn't be too hard to detect if a user is typing a Web address or an email address and adjust the correct functions accordingly?
                                      Would be appreciated :)

Swiftkey now goes into “literal mode” after you have typed @ because it knows you are typing an email address. It will not correct or add spaces after periods.

It will also do this after you type www. because it knows you are trying to type a web address.

Outside of a URL field or an email address box we are currently unable to tell if you are writing an email or a web address before you get to these points.

                                        • Easier way to change language / language switcher

I usually use 3 languages: Spanish, Catalan and English, and it's not suitable to have enabled all 3 because predictions are not very fast or they are not in the wanted language. (and it get worst with Spanish and Catalan, because they have a lot of similar words) and it's uncomfortable to go to languages and keyboards everytime I chat or send an email to my different contacts.

It would be great to change the language in use just holding space, or with a key, or making swiftkey remembering the language used for each contact,...

                                            Update 5/28/14
Looks like this feature is being worked on internally. I am not aware of the timeframe, but this has become part of the roadmap. Stay tuned.

                                            Update 4/30/14
Thanks for the follow up everyone. I think this is a good idea, and you all have helped me fully understand the need as well as provided several potential solutions. I will take this to the Design and Product teams and see if we can get it onto the roadmap. Obviously I cannot make any promises towards feasibility or timing, but I believe this could be a valuable addition to the product.

                                            Update 4/28/14
Hi everyone, thanks for all of you taking the time to vote and give feedback. Currently the way things work for language selection is, as we have so many, we cannot have all languages “running” that are not enabled. For those languages that use a different…
