More than three predictions
It would be nice to see 6 or even 9 predictions stacked on top of each other instead of just 3. I seem to have to press one or two letters a lot of the time to see the word I'm looking for. With a customizable few more rows of predictions, I would sacrifice some screen real estate to say what I have to say faster.
Sometimes SwiftKey doesn't display the word I want. I think a simple way to help this problem would be to allow more predictions to be displayed. Somewhere in between 6-8 predictions displayed at a time would be nice.
In my language, greek, we use accents. Many words may be the same but they may have different accents. Most of the time swiftkey doesnt show them. My suggestions is to include more predictions by swiping left or right or with a button (like the htc sense keyboard) that will have more predictions. This is very useful especially in Greek
It would be useful to have a longer list of word predictions -- perhaps the current three with a drop-down button to temporarily replace the keyboard with a longer list. If the processing power needed to get a longer list of sophisticated predictions is too much, the ones after the first three could be relatively "dumb" options (words that start with the letters typed so far).
This would be very useful for phones with large screens.
Have more choices for larger keyboards for those of us with higher resolution
User to be able to choose number of suggested word open displayed, currently it's 3, could give more number in settings.
Keep the existing single row of 3 (1x3) suggestions as the default and recommended suggestion layout, but allow users to select other options (eg. 2x3, 1x2, 2x2). This could address readability issues caused by long words on smaller screens. This could also speed typing longer words with more than 3 variations / tenses.
Suggest row with more than 3 predictions please!, and full customizable size.
Most words used are short. Because of this fact especially, showing two rows of words would greatly increase the suggested word selection rate.
have the predictions bar b manually scrollable like a ticker tape! now we're talkin baby!
There are currently only three suggestions I think you should add more suggestions which can be accessed by clicking on a downward button. It will fasten the typing and will be more helpful.
I think only 3 words in the prediction bar are few. Maybe you can make a side scrolling predictions bar to choose more words. And the delete botton maybe can clear a single letter when pressed fast am a entire word when long pressed! I know in English is quicker to tap another letter than to scroll and read more predictions but Italian has similar words like "amo" and the usual abbreviation "amò" or else and if you use more than a language dictionary 3 words are really few. It would be perfect in this way.

I would like the option to display more than three predictions at a time. I like to type by selecting predictions as much as possible, rather than using the keyboard and autocomplete. More predictions would help with this.
Someone submitted a similar idea before, and the Swiftkey people said that they thought having more than three predictions would just slow us down. I believe that this depends on the person on the phone. I don't think there's any reason not to at least give us the option. Obviously, three predictions would still be the default.
Personally, I read quickly and I have a tiny phone - Xperia Ray. So I believe that it would be faster for me to have more suggestions and less keyboard input. I prefer the way AI Type and the stock keyboard display suggestions, but it seems like Swiftkey gives me better suggestions so I'd like to stick with it, if this could be fixed.
Please reconsider your decision, Swiftkey people!
When the phone is in portrait mode, 3 predictions are perfect. But when the phone is in landscape mode this is wasting space - 5 predictions should be shown.
It would be great if the suggestion bar would adjust to how long the word, you're typing, is. So i.e. if writing "is" it could suggest "us", "os", "ps", "as" or even "yes" instead of just something like "us", "is" and "isolation".
Instead of only the static 3 word suggestions, we can choose from a range of other similar words by scrolling the prediction bar horizontally.
The suggestions should be scrollable, so that there are more than just three results. I mean scrollable as in left and right.
Like in the smart keyboard pro you can choose from numerous people amounts of words in in the predictions bar - not only three.
Change the word prediction bar from 3 to say 5 or 6 choices.
I used to have a Motorola phone that had similar predictive word features. I really liked it because it gave the option to allow more words (I think up to five). It really cut down on typing, and also learned from your writing as to what to predict. I think having more predictive words and learning from your input would make this already good product great.......P.S. I am using the free version now, but when my month is up I will definitely buy it!
I think there is room, especially in landscape view to predict more than just 3 words.
You should add 6 slots to predict words (at this moment we only have 3) and It would be perfect ! Thanks
sometimes i wish i had more than one row of predictions, this makes the prediction function more useful quickly
Possibility to change the number of words suggested (per example, between 3 and 6) on the top of the keyboard. Perhaps even by adding a second line of up to three suggestions, making it six suggestions at the same time in total.
if there are small words being predicted, use the horizontal space to fit in more predictions. for example, when i type : i just get my two most frequently used smileys. getting 5-6 of them will be so much better!
intelligent mode shifting: after a long press to enter more than 1 digit/symbol, switch to numeric mode. allow it as a setting, for people who don't like it. similarly, switch back after space.
3 character sets per key: quick press for alphabet, hold for symbol, long hold for set of alternative symbols/accents etc.
We currently do not plan to display more than 3 predictions at a time, as this has been shown to increase cognitive load and slow down typing speed. It is quicker to tap the next letter of your word to bring up better predictions than it is to read through a larger number of predictions.
fbpublic+1 suggested one way to implement this, and I'd add that it could be an optional feature:
"smaller predictions and with non fixed size buttons would be best, and you should also ad an ">>" button to see the next 3, and then again for next 3 maybe! I believe 9 predictions is an entry level!"
Flow really needs this, and it could be hidden under advanced settings.
Would it be possible to implement this without increasing load when the feature is disabled?
@Robert Serban: You mean pressing a key to get more suggestions? At least I do consider this rather pointless - pressing the next letter is probably more efficient than pressing the "more suggestions" button, and has about the same effort. I'd like more suggestions when the phone is in landscape mode since I am quicker with reading than with pressing keys.

The down arrow like stock keyboard is the solution which will satisfy everyone and don't bother those who are against. Maybe in SwiftKey 7, keep your fingers crossed!...
They'll never do it. Swiftkey has a lack of support when it comes to problems related to other languages that are not English. They just can't understand that not everyone has the same needs.
Multiple suggestions is a must for some languages where the same word has multiple endings depending on the sentence.
English language is really simple and probably 3 suggestions are really enough.
I would like to see more then 3 suggestions option.

Why not leave cognitive load up to us? Make it an option. I really like the one scrollable suggestion line in Smart Keyboard Pro, but want the typo functionality of SwiftKey.

Definitely would be helpful. I don't see how it would be bad as a configurable option!
@Sebi Tromm : what keyboard was it, that offered more predictions? I'd like to try this out myself.
I suppose whether this feature would help or slow down the user heavily depends on the users reading speed, so I still support this suggestion.

I tested another keyboard with more predictions - it slows down my typing, because it was so difficult to find the right word.
Choosing between one scrollable or two lines would be great. Three predictions is good, but more would be better.
I would prefer scrollable one line.
This would be nice as an option.
I think fbpublic+1 has the best idea; it would not sacrifice screen real estate, and the ">>" key would be preferred over the nuisance of scrolling (possibly accidentally entering a prediction we didn't want). And non-fixed size predictions would also allow more in landscape mode.
I think scrolling does not make sense for this. If you scroll you might see the word or might not see the word. But if you type more letters the chances are probably much better that the right word appears with the same number of touches.
It makes much more sense to use more screen space where available - for instance in landscape mode or on larger tablets.

Like a few of the previous comments, I would prefer scrolling or a 'down arrow' type option, rather than another layer which would take up space.
But yes, I think more suggestions are necessary, especially when using non-English languages with very similar word forms.
The number of predictions should be different depending on the orientation of the phone. In portrait mode 3 predictions are good, but in landscape mode this is wasting space - I'd suggest 5 predictions there.

I like the stock android implementation where the bar above the keyboard where predictions are displayed has a down -arrow to show more. Also they show 4 instead of 3 predictions on this bar. I would make that a setting for those who don't want this.
Scrolling or an "expand" button would definitely be the way to go I think. More rows would just get in the way.
this is why I stoppted using swiftkey in favor for another keybord with more suggestions
Implement this and Ill be right back :)
